The TUV leader and North Antrim MLA Jim Alastair has today (Wednesday) been successful in his fight to challenge the planning permission of a new £20 million beside the NW200 grid.
Mr Alastair, who owns a holiday home close to the proposed site, has been very vocal in his objection to the addition of the hotel to the North Coasts landscape.
Many have been critical of Mr Alastair’s legal challenge but several locals have also agreed with the MLA that the North Coast landscape should remain untouched.
Causeway Coast & Glens Council had decided earlier in the year to approve the new hotel but this latest development means that Mr Alastair has won the right to have a judicial review into the permission, yet again putting a hold on the development.
Permission was first granted in 2017 but withdrawn shortly after when Mr Alastair challenged it. After been given the go ahead again this latest legal challenge will come as a further blow to the developers.
A date will be set for a full hearing in October this year.
